Movies, books, music, television. Some of our favorite pastimes. What better than to cozy up in your favorite chair with a good book or entertaining flick or t.v.show.Or how about putting on a stack of cd's you love ?Well, we're on common ground. On this page you'll find reviews of all kinds of good stuff...or bad.

On My Bookshelf

My very untidy bookshelf  is crammed full of  books I've read and re-read and books I haven't read yet. A great abundance of my books are by two authors that I can't get enough of and must have more: Stephen King and Robin Cook. It's hard for me to keep up with them, they write more books than I write bad poems.Tons of them! But I've managed to read almost all of their writings ( and re-read many of them). King of course, writes wonderful horror stories (and great adventures) that really we shouldn't read if  we're prone to nightmares...I am...but how the hell can you not read Stephen King?He can scare the pants off of a painted man and put em back on with ragged holes and bite marks in them. King has more words in his brain that I have bad poems. He never , ever fails to amaze me with  his bottomless pit of words. How can he have time for living ?And he's never boring, never mundane, never mediocre...never disapointing. I'm addicted to Stephen King. I'm also addicted to Robin Cook, the undisputed king of medical thrillers.Cook is scary in a different way than King. His thrillers are realistic because he's a real medical doctor and he knows first hand about those things than can go wrong in the hospital, in surgery and in lab experiments, etc. He keeps me on the edge of my seat and turning pages quickly and causing my heart to beat way too fast and I will scream if the phone rings! And I grow more terrified of hospitals with each of his books. I love the medical mystery and the breathtaking suspence Cook deliciously dishes out to perfection. Robin Cook and Stephen King are my favorites at what they do. If you want to lose yourself in books that have vivid imagination and frightening truths, and be scared shitless and have the best time possible (and yes..maybe even nightmares) then buy, borrow or steal a few copies of Stephen King and Robin Cook. These guys know how to make you turn a page fast and  make you gasp, groan and grin. As you can clearly see ,I am addicted to King and Cook and proud of it!

Dharma and Greg by Cheyenne

inset7_painting.jpg

Dharma and Greg is the best comedy on t.v. today. It's sweet, and fun.It makes me laugh even when I don't feel like laughing. The characters are a wacky bunch, odd but loveble.Dharma's hippie parents are wonderful fun and so are Greg's "boring" family.Truly nothing is boring about this gem of a comedy.Dharma is delightful and she and Greg make for a cute and colorful couple. This show captures you right from the start and fills your heart with laughs.I rate Dharma and Greg a 10 on a scale of 1 to 5.

Sadly , Dharma and Greg is no longer on , except in syndacation. I miss it as does Cheyenne. My  Mysterious Ways also bit the dust .Damn it anyway. You know ..all my shows are gone. X-Files ...La Femme Nikita .I don't watch alot of t.v. but sure miss my shows. I do watch General Hospital as often as i can ...yes i do ! .I've peeked in on some newer shows ...CSI is good ...Crossing Jordan is ok. I like Dr. Phil ...do you ?

Movies

Moulin Rouge on DVD.
I rented it and figured I wouldn't like it much. But guess what ?I loved it! Moulin Rouge is packed full of well loved tunes such as Elton John's Your Song, great dancing , very funny and fast moving  and not your average musical by any means. If you like The Rocky Horror Picture Show you are bound to enjoy Moulin Rouge( but nothing can top Rocky Horror Picture Show!)Moulin Rouge is a 9 (Rocky Horror is a 10 +).

Scary Movie 2 on video.
This dumb ass piece of crap is available for you to rent or own.Don't bother ...unless you are a dumb ass. This movie is stupid.Nuff said.

Hannibal..to see it or not?

640x480.jpg

This is not the psychological thriller that Silence of the Lambs was, this is over the top scary bloody nightmare stuff rated triple R type of film. Will Hannibal be a disappointment to you? If you're expecting it to be Silence of the Lambs Clone, then you will suffer disappointment. You may close your eyes in some of the scenes...in fact you may not want to see this at all if you were upset by the other one, some are still haunted by it.To see it or not ? It may not be quite your "taste" or you may find it very "tasty" indeed.

Hannibal is available on video and dvd now....if you have an appetite.

Jurassic Park 3 on DVD.
Don't expect a lot with this one and you won't be disapointed. It's not a bad movie but it's not on the scale with Jurassic Park 1 or even 2.It's a fast paced 1 hour and 33 minutes of  dinosaur frenzy and nice scenery plus DVD makes it more interesting..so, there you go.You'll want to see the original Jurassic Park after watching this so why not rent all three and make it an event(assuming you are enough of a Jurassic Park fan to happily sit through a marathon).

Music

Sublime.A great blend of sounds..punk..rock...reggae and ska.The voice of Sublime is Bradley Nowell, once heard never forgotten. Sadly, very sadly..Brad is gone now due to a drug overdose, but his voice will live on forever.I am presently exploring all of his music. So far my favorite is one I first heard a few years back, Santeria.I can't really explain this song or the rest them and do them justice...you just must listen. The songs tell alot of what was happening in his life, like Badfish. The music will grab you and play wonderfully in your head and Brad's voice will live in your heart.Sublime is worth exploring deeper...I want all of thier cds...I feel better while listening and the feeling lingers.Sublime kicks ass and it's done their way...in a delicious blend of styles as I mentioned  earlier and there simply is nothing like it.Take the time to really listen to a whole cd of theirs or more and just escape...Get Sublime.

Josh Rouse

A quirky sophomore effort by a singer-songwriter to watch. Starts strong ("Marvin Gaye" and "Direction" are standouts) but eventually all the songs begin to sound alike, which is unfortunate. Josh should maybe hire a producer more willing to experiment with his sound.

Here are some quickies: Scarey Movie 2 must of been made for drunk 12 year olds..I hated it. Planet of the Apes was okay, don't really care to see it again though.Tomb Raider is a fun action movie with Angelina Jolie..what else can I say! The Grinch is back , saw it last year, fun and Jim Carrey is ...well..you know...Jim Carrey...worth seeing if you haven't.I saw one called Crazy ,Beautiful , a nice little love story...had heart..I'd see it again. As you know I wasn't thrilled with Hannibal...but you probably want to see it if you saw Silence...to at least compare them.Silence of the Lambs!!!Manhunter is worth seeing too, find it , see it.Want to laugh a little? Rent Leslie Nielson's Wrongfully Accused, a spoof of The Fugitive and have a few laughs...aren't his commercials hysterical? Bye.
